Module Aims:

The module aims to develop innovative and critical thinkers in relation to the identification and development of both talented academic and sporting young people in the fields of physical education and sport. Through critical analysis students will explore multi-disciplinary theories and models that attempt to explain the development of talented and gifted young people. Students will be required to critically evaluate and synthesise current physical education and sport policy that facilitates the development of talented young people. In addition, students will critically engage with a variety of projects and assessment tools that are used to identify talented young people in both an academic and physical education and sport setting.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module students will be able to demonstrate the following:
