UNIT THREE INTRODUCTION
This week there are two lessons. Lesson 1 addresses major issues in Pastoral Ministry as seen in
Paul’s Letter to the Romans. In Lesson 2, we will continue our discussions of the major pastoral
issues. Be certain you fully engage the readings and lectures as you participate in this week’s two
discussions. The first writing assignment, on a contemporary family issue, is also due at the end
of this unit.

UNIT THREE OUTCOMES
Upon completion of this unit you should be able to:

Lesson One
1. Understand the Pauline view of pastoral ministry.
2. Understand the biblical nature and goals of pastoral ministry.
3. Know the impact of “flesh” versus “Spirit” on discipleship.

Lesson Two
1. Comprehend the importance of major pastoral issues.
2. Comprehend how to deal with major pastoral issues.
3. Comprehend how pastoral issues impact spiritual life and maturity.
