1) Look closely at the web links. Comment in some way on one of them. Make a point. 75 words or so.

2) Reflect in 200 words or so on the quality of democracy in the late 19th century USA. give factual answer (that would take more more like 200 pages). I’m looking for reflection and commentary. Think about who held power and who did not; think about the level of political participation. How did the party system work? Violence? Patronage? Maybe you could consider the mugwumps or immigrants, or even whether democracy is a desirable form of politics at all. Use and refer to whatever resources from the module you find helpful. This question is not an opportunity for us to rant on about today’s political leaders. Keep to history. Doing a short-ish reflection of this sort on a big topic is pretty difficult. Give it some thought, narrow your focus so that you can be specific, and have something to say.
