Parent Newsletter #1 Academic Essay

Read chapter information and NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standard 7.B.06 guidelines for newsletters. Your newsletter must meet both criteria. You will also find helpful information in the document “Newsletter Tips”.

Newsletters are an excellent one-way communication tool from school to home. It helps the parents stay informed and connected.

For this assignment you will submit two separate newsletters; however only one is being done/submitted at this time. Each newsletter is worth 12 points and both must be for parents of preschoolers. Guidelines for the second newsletter will be provided when the next assignment is posted.

The first newsletter will cover one month; it will be the March newsletter for your preschool class.

The newsletter should be anti-bias and developmentally appropriate.

Each newsletter should be only 2 pages.

You will upload the newsletter, identify it (filename) as Newsletter 1 + (your last name).

Your newsletters should include the sections below, listed beneath each section I have included areas that can be covered for that section title. This should assist you with knowing what to write for the section.

1. Activities for home
•For children and for parents to do with children, for family outings
•Announcements of community events
2. Activities and routines at school (must be age appropriate for preschoolers 3- 4)

•For the “parenting topics” section of this assignment I selected the topic for you. Your topic will be: The Importance of Play (in preschool). You only need to write about this one topic although there are many good topics that can be included in a newsletter. Be sure what you write is based in early childhood principles.
