Comparison and Contrast Essay
compare and contrast two different things, remembering that a comparison and contrast essay clearly establishes the qualities of the two things that are being compared, and examines how they are different and how they are similar. In this essay you are also being asked to move into an either implied or overtly stated thesis that argues that one is better than the other. To do this you must establish CRITERIA OF EVALUATION (certain qualities you believe make up a good product).
ITEM A ITEM B Criterion Why? Criterion #2 Why? Criterion #3 Why? Walk the reader through a round by round comparison and contrast. Criterion 1 Item A Wins Criterion 2 Tie Criterion 3 Item A Wins Conclusion: Because A is C1, C2, C3 and B is not, then A is a more superior product. Conclusion: Even though A is better than B at C1, B is better at C2 and C3 which are more important, so therefor B is better than A
