Critical Review (1000 Words)

Title: A Critical Review of Theoretical Approaches to International Development.

You should base your review around the three readings listed below.

1. Ziya O¨nis¸ and Fikret S¸enses (2005), ‘Rethinking the Emerging Post-Washington Consensus’, Development and Change, 36 (2), 263-290.

2. Adrian Leftwich (1995), ‘Bringing Politics Back In: Towards a Model of the Developmental State’, Journal of Development Studies, 31 (3), 400-427.

3. Hugo Radice (2008), ‘The Developmental State under Global Neoliberalism’, Third World Quarterly, 29 (6), 1153-1174.

Your review should not be simply three separate reviews and should incorporate the following:
• A brief introduction setting out the main arguments of your critical review.
• A summary of the key points raised by each reading.
• Analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the literature.
• Comments on the three pieces as a whole.
