1. You are required to explain the immunological basis of solid organ rejection following a kidney transplant. (900 words).
2. There are three (3) general categories of solid organ transplant rejection, these are: hyper-acute; acute; and chronic. You are required to compare and contrast these in relation to a kidney transplant and to explain the immunosuppressive regimes which are recommended to treat these forms of rejection (2400 words).
In your response you will be required to address the following. The:
• signs and symptoms of the rejection process;
• pathophysiology underlying these signs and symptoms;
• pharmacological agents which may be used for the various forms of rejection and how these act on the immune system; & complications of the immunosuppressive therapy.
