Based on the outlined research approach, and using evidence different sources and personal/professional experience, respond to the following question.
What primary outcome measures might be appropriate to measure the impact of the intervention on quality of life for care home residents whose dementia is advanced.
What would be the strengths and limitations of (1) asking families to record their relative’s quality of life using questionnaires, and (2) interviewing staff to supplement that data from structured outcome measures?
What ethical and practical challenges might be encountered by the approach taken in this study and how would you respond to these?
Quality of life is increasingly used as an outcome measure in intervention research and growing numbers of assessment tools and scales are available.
