This assignment ensures a grasp of the foundational knowledge of social justice, identity, difference and diversity as concepts more generally and then how it relates in early childhood. There is the opportunity to focus on one social area of disadvantage to allow a deeper
understanding to emerge in preparation for assignment 2.

 

 

Description
In your chosen field of early childhood, first articulate current theorising about social justice and its relationship to factors of poverty. You will critique notions of identity, difference and diversity in terms of their social constructions. Finally, you may choose to critique a specified area of social disadvantage, such as race, ethnicity, Aboriginality, gender, disability or sexuality, or you may critique how these socially constructed elements intersect to marginalise particular social groups.
