Transitional Change
This is a more complex process and significant changes will be made according to the needs of environment or market requirement. In this method, an opportunity which was left unidentified may be identified and efforts are directed towards replacing an existing process or policy. The focus in on the redesigning strategy and might include reorganization, merges, diversification of business, introduction of new product or service and systems. The transitional change process was identified by Lewin and he proposed the three stages in this process as:
a) unfreezing,
(b) movement, and
(c) refreezing.
According to Lewin, the unfreezing stage is characterized by the steps which are needed for brining the desired change. He promoted the participative management style to bring the change and recommended training and seminars to identify the main problems that occur during managerial decision making process. The movement is âto actually take action designed to change the social system from its original level of behavior or operation to a new level.â It is where the activities take place for the conversation process followed by the last stage refreezing which involves establishment of the final process to make sure that further unwanted changes are stopped. This includes the right approach which is approved by the management  and reward system for reinforcement of the change.
