Thesis: The Stonewall Riots of 1969, could not have taken place anywhere but a big city like New York City. Many who identified with the LGBTQ community fled to the
big city for the unabashed acceptance and ability to identify as who they were. However this sense of gay identity, only further contributed to the threat of being
seen as a stronger group identity that could easily overwhelm. (If you have a better argument based thesis, please let me know).
