Topic: Surrealist representation of the City
Order Description
This is the question:
‘Students are to work in groups of 3 to analyse, interpret and articulate to the whole cohort in a Seminar Presentation the salient characteristics of one key historical mode of architectural representation through drawings. One specific, representative drawing is to be adopted as the ‘way in’ to the method. Students are to identify the cultural context and ‘worldview’ out of which the drawing method emerged, and are to identify key protagonists and their drawings, explain the contribution of technical and scientific developments, and reflect upon the architectural consequences of the particular mode of drawing, including such things as the geometries, forms and modes of construction that it enables’
At least 6 Key texts relating to the chosen drawing method.
My notes:
As a group we have chosen Surrealism as the mode of architectural representation through drawings. As surrealism is quite broad the overall theme we are interested in is the Surrealist representation of the City. With my part of the presentation i am looking at Giorgio De Chirico’s work. His work ‘Mystery and melancholy of a street’ should be the primary study for my part of the presentation. Images of artworks and analyses must be included – approximately 6 images.
To summarize, the speech/presentation I am paying for should take into account the question provided above with my chosen artist and the overall theme my group is dealing with, that is, the surrealist representation of the city.
