Order Description

This is an essay on the structure and function of haemoglobin (2hhb) for my “Protein structure and function” module. It must not exceed 4 pages including references. Here is the brief:

Your account should include:-
•Appropriate figures of the protein structure generated from a named PDB file using PyMOL.
•Description of structure of the protein including the following where appropriate:-
•Primary structure (number of amino acids)
•Secondary structure
•Structural motifs
•Tertiary structure (including domains, CATH and/or SCOP fold classification)
•Quaternary structure
•Ligands, Cofactors, Inhibitors etc or other proteins with which the protein interacts
•Function of the protein and how this relates to the structure
•Reference list (including at least one original scientific paper from a referred journal)

You should aim to devote about 1/2 your essay to protein structure and half to the function.
