I would suggest adding a specific measurement tool that you could utilize in order to see if Stronger Together’s intervention is successful. Maybe utilizing something like the Miller Social Intimacy Scale to measure closeness with other (you’ll need to look up the reference for this, it is in the Journal of Personality Assessment (1982). This scale can be a predictor of healthy relationships. Thus , is you administer at the beginning of treatment through the Stronger Together program following sexual assault and then maybe again halfway through and then maybe again at the end. This will help you determine whether there is an improvement in the level of healthy relationships that the client has before during and after treatment. This gives your evaulation section a measureable tool to sho audiences when trying to prove the success of the Stronger Together Program. There are alot of scales that you can utilize that would give you evidence-based research to support your evaluation of your intervention. Next, how will you operationalizze your data? Once you find out whether your program is successful based on the scales, how will you use that data for future practice? If your advocacy program is successful, then maybe adding more advocates to the program or expanding the training to include more information for communities and programs so that they may utilize the Stronger Together program. Also, can the data be utilized with other populations? For example, could you apply your data to folks suffering from PTSD from other incidents and not just from sexual assault? This is the importance of large scale evaluating. Not only do we want to be able to help our programs, we want to be able to expand our successes to help others but we want to do it with evidence-base. That is why I am suggesting the scales or research based samples with qualitative or quantitative data. This helps prove that we are successful because the research suggests we are. It’s not good enough to just say what we have done and that it seems to be working well. We need to support it. Lastly, what are your barriers? Will everyone respond to the scales honestly or understand them the same? Will they still be scared to answer truthfully? Maybe some want want to complete the scales due to fear of knowing whether they are still experiencing symptoms? Who knows but we need to know any barriers that would prevent our evaluation from being accurate. This could be anything that would prevent accuracy in your tools that you choose to use or your overall evaluation of the program. Like I said before, you may not get all of the statistics because not all immediate community police dept may cooperate, this would pose as a barrier. Hope this provides a little more help. You are getting there but you need a little more. You have a tough section to work with here. This is a macro evaluation, there are many layers that make evaluation difficult. It is our job as social workers to try to work through those layers and evaluate results so that we can provide the best programs to the communities, their families, and the clients.
