This reflective Essay is about my experience as a student nurse while doing my first observation on patient. My overall experience was good considering the fact that it was my first time of using such equipments like pulse oximetry, thermometer and stethoscope etc to monitor patient.
The overall feedback was really good with regards to interpreting vital signs correctly, communicate appropriately with patient/ colleague, respects patient’s comfort and dignity and applying basic hygiene for infection control.
The only criticism i had was failing to communicate my findings to the patient after the observation and also the pair of studs earrings i was wearing were too big all this i have to take into consideration when i start my placement as a student nurse.
However, eventhough my feedback for the simulation was good,i still need more practice on how to record vital signs correctly on the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) chart and more practice on vital signs like blood pressure and respiratory rate for future development.
