Compare the 2 key projects your short papers along a larger theme that you find interesting or relevant to the type of practice you hope to pursue as an architect.
Your paper should have 3 parts:
First is the introduction (1 paragraph) – introduce the larger theme you want to investigate in your paper and the 2 key projects you will compare to each other. You may also want to include a brief outline here of what you intend to do in the following paragraphs. You can also use the introduction to identify a series of characteristics you want to compare in the 2 key projects. Think of this paragraph as a hypothesis/assumption/question that you will test in the course of your paper.
Second is the actual comparison (1-2 paragraphs per key project) – following the course of action you outline in the introduction, compare the 2 key projects: How do they differ from each other? How are they similar? You may want to spend a paragraph each, giving a brief overview of the key projects, but make sure that you spend more time comparing the projects than discussing them individually. Include 1-2 images per key project, labeling them as follows: Figure #: project name, image type (e.g. Figure 1: Pompidou Center, section).
Third is conclusion (1 paragraph) – revisit your hypothesis/assumption/question from the introduction: Were the key projects more similar or more different than your anticipate? You may want to summarize your big discoveries from the comparison and what lessons you have learned from them that will come in handy for your own future practice.
The paper can be doing using only the required and reference readings from the syllabus/LMS. However, if you choose to do additional research, please make sure it is in the library, using books, and journals. Online sources are strongly discouraged.
Paper should be 5-7 pages long, 12 point and double spaced.
