As it was clearly specified in our lectures and seminars, here were the element I looked for when marking your essay.
Within each subsection, you received points for clear organisation and proper referencing.
Please compare your answer to the structure below and use it to guide your resubmission.
Definition of Attachment – Mostly correct; reference missing
Classification of Infant attachment- missing, although important!
Attachment behaviours in infancy- present, although the concepts of secure base and safe haven are only marginally explained.
Preconditions of attachment – you spent most of the paper discussing these. You mentioned the evolutionary advantages of attachment, mothers’ tendency to attribute
intentionality to baby communication, babyishness and material sensitivity, but not object permanence. You spent far too much time talking about what happens to
newborns, which did not help you get any closer to answering the essay question!
Consequences of infant attachment – lots of findings, but, unfortunately, with few or incorrect references. You have to get into the habit of backing up every single
thing you say with a proper citation!
Preschool behaviours and representations – behaviours explained; representations missing.
All the sections below are missing:
Middle school behaviours and representations
Adolescent behaviours and representations
Classification of adult attachment
Continuity of Attachment
Intergenerational Transmission
Conclusions- Somewhat Relevant
Even though you appear to have read a lot, you seem to have misread the essay question.
