A) 40% American Foreign Policy in the Post World War II era was one dominated by the Cold War. While the policy was often singularly referred to as “Containment” it was not a seamless nor a singular policy. What best explains US foreign policy choices during the Cold War, domestic politics and electoral concerns or international security concerns? In your answer compare the Reagan administrations to either the Eisenhower or Kennedy administrations’ (LBJ and Kennedy are to be considered as one) approaches to containment.
B) 40% American Foreign Policy during the Cold War was highlighted by the US Third World interventions. Two that stand out are the overthrow of the Arbenz regime in Guatemala and our involvement in Vietnam. What best explains why we intervened in each, and the manner by which we did so. Do domestic politics and electoral concerns or international security concerns better explain each? For Vietnam, there should be a special focus over the decision to escalate Vietnam. In your answer, make sure that you discuss both aspects and discuss which you believe to explain more about our policy choices.

C) 20 %In the post-cold war world US foreign policy has been more active in humanitarian missions. Using class materials compare and contrast the missions in Somalia and Bosnia. Why was one more successful than the other was?
