On the 23rd of March 2016, I went to the Carnegie Museums of Art and Natural History. It was very enjoyable visit that has expended my ideas and thinking about the world of ART. After purchasing the tickets, we started with taking a random walk between the sections without focusing on each section’s name. All of them are something wonderful and well designed. Going over the paintings pictures they were very nice and bizarre. There were paints all over the world that goes back to two-three hundred years ago. From randomly color picture or a human paints, all of them were there. The most thing that attract me in this section was the idea of putting multi colors in once, which end up with giving a piece of wonderful art.
In addition, there was some wooden furniture, such as desks and dressers and chairs that goes back to two hundred years ago. They looks in a very good shape as they are brand new furniture, which impressed me of thinking about how could they save them and keep them on their shapes for all of these years, and the highly care of these pieces made me appreciate their effort.
Furthermore, I found myself between statues that represents a lot of religions and cultures from Asia to Europe. I loved on of these statues, which is belong to the Chinese. It was the Head of Guanyin 1279-1368, and this large head was once of part of full statue of Guanyin, who is a bodhisattva or Buddhist deity who has attained enlightenment but has chosen to stay in this world as a disciple to aid the needy. According to the description of Guanyin head, Sculptures like this one were often grouped together in temples or stood alone and outdoors at pilgrimage sites. The considerable size of this head suggests an exterior location. By this date, most of the Chinese representations of Guanyin were female, and this statue is sculpted with coiffure if an aristocratic Chinese women. Originally a bright covering of polychrome paint enlivened this figure, yet her solemn, contemplative gaze and downcast eyes underscored her divinity.
Having said that, the second piece that attract me was from Austrian, Vienna. It is a suit of armor. It was very well designed and looks very nice. The steel making it kind of flashing. Also there was a helmet from German, Nuremburg that also made of steel and covered the whole head except a little gap for the eyes and breathing.
In conclusion, the whole Carnegie Museums of are and Natural History was very well designed from the building to the pieces that were there. I enjoyed this experience very much, and I saw pieces of art from all around the world starting from North and South of America, Europe, India, China, Egypt, etc. and these pieces developed my background of art.
