“In our increasingly global society, many people feel that all students should be required to leam a foreign language before graduating from high school. Do you agree? Why or why not? Explain your
position using specific reasons and examples.” I agree with the idea of required language leaming to an extent. I don’t know that it should necessarily be a requirement yet, but there should be
incentives given to students whom decide to leam a foreign language. This would promote language leaming and provide a transition to a system that could eventually lead to a language leaming
requirement. I would like the response paper to cover the increased benefit of leaming a second language in regards to global professional development, personal growth in cultural awareness, and
mental acuity.
