An Islamic resurgence is clearly occurring in the Middle East. The 1979 Iranian revolution only marked the beginning of this trend. What were the roots of this revolution? The growth of Islamic
political organizations in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine in recent years has been significant. Also, included in this resurgence was the achievement of power by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
