Human Services 100 Agency Report and Extra Credit Instructions

AGENCY REPORT (2-4 pages) – 80 Possible Points

Option A: Write a report (2-4 pages) about an agency you visited. Local agencies you might visit include: daycare, elder care, counseling centers, family support centers, domestic violence centers, substance abuse rehabilitation programs (AA), group homes, recreation centers, developmental disabilities programs. Include description of agencys service and target population (see Mehr textbook ch. 1), cultural competence skills needed to provide effective service (see Hogan textbook chapters 4 & 5); and your personal reflections on the agency you visited (give at least three reasons as to why you would/would not work there).

Option B: Write a report on a Human Services website by exploring human services on the internet. After reading several human service websites, choose one to describe in a written report. First, describe the services offered and the population it serves (target population see Mehr textbook chapter 1); Second, describe the cultural competence skills needed to provide effective service (see Hogan textbook chapters 4 & 5); Third, and your personal reflections on the website you visited (give at least three favorable/unfavorable impressions of the site you visited).

The papers should be typed and double spaced and 2-4 pages in length. As you complete each assignment, you can check your grade online.
