Health Policy & Economics Rubric for Health Policy Issue Report Rubric
Description: The health policy issue report will consist of a paper of approximately 4-5 pages addressing a local, state, or federal healthcare policy issue of your choice. You may choose a part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or Health Care Reform. Try to narrow your topic and address a very specific health policy issue. Use peer reviewed or other scholarly articles and government documents. You may use a maximum of one newspaper article or video. Appropriate use of APA (6th ed.) format is important. Use this rubric as a guideline to ensure that you meet the requirements for successful completion this paper.
1.A local, state or federal health policy issue you are interested in is identified. This may be a bill being proposed currently under debate in the appropriate
legislative, a law being implemented pending regulations, a proposed regulation, or an idea you have for a bill or regulation.–

1. Objective and anticipated outcome of the proposed legislation or
regulation
2. Background contributing to the legislation/regulation formation
3. Impact of the legislation/regulation on existing health care policies
4. Implications of the legislation for advance practice nursing
5. Identify position of stakeholders of
legislation/regulation
6. Obstacles and barriers influencing passage or implementation of the legislation/regulation
7. Factors favoring passage or implementation of the legislation/regulation
8. Discuss position of opposing groups, against the
legislation/regulation; include their views
9. Discuss the economic impact of the legislation.–
