Task 2 During the refurbishment of the house, two incidents occurred that should be reported to comply with RI000R: i) a dangerous gas fitting ii) a dangerous occurrence Identify the number of the
form that should have been completed in each case.
Task 3 The Health and Safety Executive have wide ranging powers which are detailed in the HSE Enforcement Policy Statement. i) According to the HSE’s ‘Enforcement Policy Statement’ what are the
Health and Safety Executive’s statutory functions? ii) Describe in your own words the main points regarding the purpose and the method of enforcement of the policy. iii) What factors should be
taken into account when deciding to carry out an investigation? iv) Outline the legal duties of employers and employees in relation to HASAWA v) Identify three cases of legal obligations that have
been or are being ignored by an employer (this may be from personal knowledge you have experienced, or examples you are aware of, or examples you have identified from searching the Internet). In
each case state what the employer should have done to comply with HASAWA.
Task 4 During the refurbishment the use of ladders, mobile scaffold towers or trestle scaffolds will be necessary. The Work at Height Regulations 2005 (as amended) must be complied with as
appropriate. i) What do the eight schedules to the Regulations cover? ii) Describe in your own words the main steps that should be followed before working at height. iii) Referring to Schedule 6,
what do the Work at Height Regulations 2005 state regarding the requirements for ladders
Task 5 There is an asbestos cement tank in the loft space that needs removing and disposing of appropriately (Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012). i) Describe in detail, using the headings below

Task 6 The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 apply to all employers, self-employed persons and employees. Their purpose is to reduce the risk of death or personal injury from electricity in the

Task 7 The COSHH regulations will apply throughout the refurbishment process. You should also be aware of the CLP Regulation when handling materials. i) Sketch and label each of the CLP hazard
pictograms. ii) The HSE outline eight COSHH ‘principles of good practice’. Describe these in your own words.
Task 8 During the course of the refurbishment a lot of materials will need to be loaded and unloaded from vehicles and moved around the site. The Manual Handling Regulations 1992 (amended) will
need to be complied with throughout. i) Two frequently asked questions are: 1. Is there a maximum weight a person can lift during their work? 2. Has the HSE published any guidelines on ‘team
handling’? Using the HSE website, answer both of these questions in detail. Make reference to any HSE free information leaflets that are available, and describe any personal examples of manual
handling where applicable. ii) State what a MAC is and describe its structure. iii) Explain how to complete a MAC assessment.
