LA #2A Assignment: Guided Reading Journal for Managing Transitions (Bridges) Written Assignment: LA #2A:
As this is a guided reading journal, please respond to all of the following questions after reading the book, Managing Transitions by Bridges.
1. Part 1 (Chapters 1 & 2) of the book talks about the “problem” – as you reflect on what you’ve read in these two chapters, comprehensively explain in your own words, what’s the difference between “change” and “transition.” Please provide an example or scenario you’ve experienced in your work place. What was the main lesson that you take away from “A Test Case” in Chapter 2?
2. Part 2 (Chapters 3 – 6) of the book talks about the “solutions.” Why is it important to get people to let go and then lead them through the neutral zone? What are some examples or scenarios that demonstrate this?
3. What are the top three factors you’ve learned on how to deal with non-stop change as demonstrated in Part 3 of Managing Transitions?
4. In Part 4, you learn that the acronym GRASS stands for the five measurable costs of not managing transition effectively. Explain what GRASS is based on your own understanding from the text, and provide an example (your own or through other research) to support this understanding.
