Good Will Hunting Movie Critique
Order Description
Hi, everyone.
I’d like for you to take a quick look at the Movie Critique Paper guidelines (under “course home”), if you haven’t already done so. This paper is due at the end of week 6, so you’ll need to start planning for it now. It wouldn’t be a good idea to write this paper at the last minute!
I would suggest that you read the guidelines and select and view whichever movie you’d like to use. Please let me know right away via email, if you would like to use a film that is not listed. Remember that you need my approval to choose a movie that’s not on the approved list. If you would like to use a different movie, email me right away with a brief description of the film, since I’ll need, first, to give preliminary approval based on the description, and, secondly, have time to get it from Netflix and watch it, too!
You should also take a look at the rubric for the paper in the syllabus so you’ll know what to be thinking about while writing the paper and what to be watching for while reviewing the film.
After you have selected your approved movie during Week 3 (that’s this week!), you’ll need to upload to the dropbox (click on the “Check Point – Movie Critique Progress” under Week 3 for instructions) a description of which movie you will be analyzing and which characters (minimum of two) you will be discussing in your paper. It’s important that your selected characters have mental health issues that can be treated using the psychotherapeutic methods that we’re studying this term.
Good luck on getting started on this important assignment.
Which approved film will you analyze for the Movie Critique paper?
It’s time to decide! Review the instructions for completing the Movie Critique paper which is due at the end of Week 6. What you need to do now is decide which of the approved movies you will use to complete the paper. it’s important to choose a film that has at least two (2) characters that you can discuss, characters that have mental health issues that can be treated using the psychotherapeutic methods that we’re studying this term. (You will be asked in the paper to review three (3) possible theoretical approaches for each character—so think about your film choice carefully.)
Please avoid movies with characters who suffer from Schizophrenia or Dissociative Identity disorder (multiple personality). These kinds of cases are just too complex for the scope of this course. The five films on the list included in the Movie Critique link under Course Home are all good films with a good track record for this exercise.
If you want to use a film not on the list, you will need to email your instructor to get approval. Detailed information about the movie to be needed in order to approve it; not all films are approved. So now is the time to ask, if you haven’t already.
What you need to do by the end of this week:
Submit the name of the approved movie you would like to use and which characters (at least two) in the movie you plan to analyze by midnight Sunday. Feedback on the suitability of what you intend to do will be returned to you within 48 hours.
This check point exercise will not be graded. The main purpose is to get you started on this important assignment now.
