Genre Assignment Paper

Order Description
Goal: The goal for this assignment is to write a paper focusing on three selected genres of writing.

Format Requirements: The paper is to be clear and concise and students will lose points for improper grammar, punctuation and misspelling. The paper is to be no shorter than 4 pages; nor longer
than 8 pages in length (typed, double-spaced). The student will automatically lose points if these limits are not followed. Include a title and reference page following APA format. Journal articles
or books should be referenced according to APA style (the library has a copy of the APA Manual). There should be citations throughout the paper; not so much direct quotes. Make sure that you cite
ALL paraphrasing and direct quotes. In the reference page, please include books listed in the prominent authors and illustrators section as well as citations. You DO NOT have to cite the 10 trade
books or 4 novels in each section, BUT YOU MUST CITE ALL OTHER SOURCES AND BOOKS IN OTHER SECTIONS.

Content Requirements: Take a brief overview of the following genres: picture books, fairy/folk tales, historical fiction, contemporary realistic fiction, fantasy, or poetry. Look through your
textbook or online resources to get an overview of the definitions of these genres. Choose three genres for your paper.

Divide your paper into sections; within each genre section, provide headings, subheadings and level headings.

For the first genre you chose, provide the readers with an in-depth look at what the genre entails, a brief description of 3 prominent authors and 3 prominent illustrators; some of their work
should be included as well as who they are, the time period they wrote/illustrated in and other pertinent information, a brief discussion of the important issues, and a list of 10 picture books or
4 novels. Place prominent authors and illustrators in bold print in each section. All book titles should be listed in italics font. Do not underline or place titles in quotation marks.

A close look at your second chosen genre following the same criteria as the first.

A close look at your third chosen genre following the same criteria as above.
