You should find 6+ sources for your Persuasive Research Report: at least three in support of your position and at least three that support the opposing view. Of course, you may use more sources for
either your position or the opposition. Make full use of Hale Library�s databases to find current, credible sources. These databases can be found at the Hale homepage using a scroll down
alphabetical menu. Hale�s excellent research Librarians can also help you find resources based on key words or phrases to answer your research question. What topics or research materials are �off
limits�? Two topics that have been overdone are Abortion and Gun Control. If you are thinking about these two broad issues, only a focused sub-issue under either topic would be appropriate for this
paper. Neither issue can be argued effectively in only 5-7 pages, which is the length of this assignment. Additionally, certain source materials are discouraged. First of all, Wikipedia material is
okay for a definition or a bio of an author. However, it is not credible on most statistical data, as is occasionally stated at the website. Additionally, I would discourage the use of compilation
sites. These sites often selectively compile data to reflect a particular angle of vision. Also, the original source or author is often not stated, so there is no way to judge the credibility of
the information. Lastly, anonymous sources are also not appropriate for this paper for the same reason. There is no way to judge the credibility of the source without knowing the credentials of the
author.
