Assignment Question
•Focusing on a specific type of assessment, or assessment in a specific field of social work practice, consider the knowledge and skills that
underpin the assessment.

• The specific field I have chosen is Children and Families
Please refer to English legislation and referencing, Children Act, Working together, Assessment framework etc.
This is an oral presentation of approx. 15 minutes, please put information alongside that I can place in a power point, It should just be
bullet points for adding to my power point, the other information is to be read to a panel.
Assignment Criteria
Knowledge and Understanding
On successful completion of the module the student will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge and critical understanding of the role and function of assessment in contemporary social work practice including
eligibility criteria (thresholds), legislative duties, assessment frameworks and outcomes.
Demonstrate knowledge and critical understanding of models of intervention in social work practice and their effectiveness
Develop a critical understanding of anti-oppressive assessment practice and the experience of assessment from the perspective of service users
and carers
Define and explain the role and function of reflective and reflexive practice and evidence-based practice in assessment and evaluation.
Demonstrate knowledge and critical understanding of research related to assessment and effective intervention in social work practice.

Develop analytical skills
Develop critical reflective skills to enable ongoing professional development.
Develop skills related to group work and the analysis of group process.
