Subject: REQUEST EXTENSION OF HOUSE HOLD SHIPMENT
Date: 02 Dec 2017
I retired 01 April 2011 after serving honorably for 24 years in the United States Airforce. I am in the process of buying my first home. Which was a very exciting time until I discovered that my
house will not be ready by my final extension deadline(31 Mar 2017) and that the government may not be am to be grant me the extra time needed to move me from my apartment in Augusta Ga to my new
home in Augusta Ga. .(60 Days) I can’t afford to lose my entitlement that I worked so hard for; following housing policy to request an extension in writing for 5 years until you decide to settle on
a place to retire. Being a single disabled veteran purchasing a home alone; is not only very expensive but a challenging time. Therefore, I am in desperate need and pleading with your office to
grant me and exception to policy up 60 days or whatever the max you can give. Which will be 31 May 2017. I was told that an extension was possible due to Mar-May was not peak season and usually
slow by the Transportation office representative for extension located in Darling Hall. I asked the question way ahead of time before the contract on my house begin. Because I know in life things
don’t always work out the way we plan. No matter how well we try. Please don’t penalize me for trying and possibly receiving un-official information from the reps at TMO. I started the process in a
timely manner to ensure I would meet the final 31 March final extension request. But to date my house is not scheduled to be ready before Apr- May time frame. I followed procedure by requesting a
yearly extension up to five years. The holiday season and winter weather delays are inevitable As soon as I realized my house was not going to be reading by 31 March. I contacted the transportation
office again however at that time; I was informed to contact a different office in transportation section at Fort Gordon. Even though I was told by Darling Hall Room transportation reps in 146 that
it would be easy for me to get a 60 to 90 extension since the time was not around peak season for Permanent Change Station (PCS). On 12 Oct I contacted the office responsible for movement at Ft
Gordon TMO in reference to my upcoming move. Mrs. Tina informed me beginning in 2014 the Fort Gordon office of transportation was to no longer service Airforce members. They did not realize after
five years that I was Airforce…even though they granted me two more extensions after 2014. However, I did not receive any information regarding this update. She informed me to contact Shaw. Fort
Gordon office was very professional and helpful. Upon contacting Shaw AFB, after being transferred to several office and researching my case. Shaw informed me that Fort Gordon was responsible for
my move and would be the office to grant me an exception to policy. Then I forwarded the email from Shaw Airforce Base transportation office to Mr. Williams at Fort Gordon transportation. He
explained to me that a letter would have to be written to G4 prior to my movement. I am writing this letter 120 day out. I am requesting an answer as soon as possible. An answer is please needed as
soon as possible. I am extremely stressed and being a disable veteran stress cause my conditions to worsen. Therefore, I am begging you to grant me a 60 day extension to move my household goods. To
prevent an extreme hardship. If I am to pay closing cost, moving expense, rent at my old location and my first mortgage will all be due at the same time. I served in the military for 24 years and
there was a wavier for almost every situation. Please find it in your heart, policy to understand that it is out of my control. Things just don’t work out as we plan. I will be ever so grateful.
I need to make it clear. I am living in my apartment. My household goods will be picked up from my apartment and moved to my new home in the same city, Augusta Georgia. I think this is referred to
a door to door move. I currently do not have anything in storage.
Finally, I thank you so much for the opportunity to provide you information surrounding my extension. I am very organized, I requested my yearly extensions as required by transportation. However,
things are not working as I hoped and was required to be in compliance with. Thank you so much in advance for your consideration. Again without this extension, it could cause financial strain and
extra stress is highly discouraged from all my health care providers being that I am a disabled veteran. Granting me this extension will be the answer to my prayers and bring joy back to my move
and a piece of mind. I have always tried to follow and adhere to policy. This is the one time that I need the system to work when needed; or how it is designed to work. If it was possible for
