You will identify and summarize news articles related to the process, policies, and problems of economic development appearing in different credible media sources, primarily the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The Economist, and Bloomberg BusinessWeek. Other sources may also be used, but they must be recognized, credible sources of business/economics news. Blogs usually are unacceptable as sources, since they are not moderated for content or checked by an editor: Threads must address some issue of economic development
1. Formal Writing: As in any formal writing assignment, threads and replies must be written in standard formal English, using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, and must avoid word misuse. Example of misused words: “US exports fell do to [instead of ‘due to’] inadequate economic growth by our trading partner’s [incorrect punctuation, should be partners’] economies.’ One-fourth of your Discussion Board grade is based on mechanics: grammar, spelling, punctuation, and correct word usage – see the handout “Discussion Board Grading Rubric.”
You must include the article citation: Author, title, publication, date, and page number(s)
You will provide the complete article citations and then briefly summarize it as a way of beginning our discussion of it. Then you will ask 3 questions about its main points and number these questions 1, 2, and 3.
