Order Description
The gross floor area (GFA) for your BIM design project (CW3) is 140m2 (+/-10%).
Design component
Based on your experience from drawing a domestic house you are required to design a domestic dwelling of your choice (UK type or any country) (70%). Specifically you should:
Include:
•a ground floor plan,
•a first floor plan
•a roof plan, and
Generate:
•all elevations
•two section that passes through the most number of building elements,
•and structure schedules and material quantities
All your drawings should be:
•on at most two sheets; preferably one sheet
•produced on a scale of 1:1, and should be on a single .RVT file.
Notes
•You have to do a bit of research to incorporate building regulations requirements in your drawings
•You have to explicitly state (by text/annotation) important building regulations used
•The Gross Floor Area (GFA)[1] is a real estate term referring to the total floor area inside the building envelope, including the external walls, and excluding the roof” should be used
Students are provided with different GFA which you are advised to use. Also, you must include:
•At least 4 bedrooms (in the whole dwelling)
•At least one reception[2] room
•At least one bathroom
•One kitchen
•One dining room
•Windows
•Stairs
•Ceiling
•Doors (double and internal doors wherever necessary)
NB: Again you have to take note of building regulations in whatever you include
Part 2: Application
Using the model developed in Part 1, explore the process of:
(a)Quantity take-off and assessments of embodied energy and CO2 within Revit and MS Excel environments (15%).
