you will research the Internet for websites or projects that already exist in the public sector similar to what you want to design for the course.
Steps to Success
In a Microsoft Word document, provide the following:
A list of keywords that you used to research your project. You will research these in two different search engines (i.e., Google or Bing).
Make a list of the top 5 websites for each search engine. (If your results are unclear adjust your keywords and do another search)
Write a Competitive analysis on two websites:
List the full URL (web address) for the sites you reviewed
Take a screenshot of at least two pages (Home page and one other page)
Place the screenshots in the Word document
Write explanations of what the strong qualities and weak qualities are on the site or product.
Review the following areas:
Home page: Is it informative? If so, how and does it let the user know what the site is about?
Navigation: Is it consistent and easy to use to move around the site? Explain.
Site Organization: Is the site organization intuitive and easy to understand? Explain.
Readability: Are the fonts easy to read and can you quickly scan the site? Explain.
Content: Do the content and goals align with what your stakeholder and users need? Explain why or why not.
Compare and summarize these sites to your own site ideas:
What is the unique selling point (competitive advantage) of your project compared to the sites you researched?
What is done very well in the competitors’ project and what ideas did it give you for your project?
What are the issues in the interactive product, and why do they occur? How can you avoid these with your project?
Make a short list of how you can make your site competitive in the marketplace.
