the main purpose of the essay is to compare the graphic novel of Mid Summer Nights’ Dream to the Dean college production of the play. The essay should be composed in a Point to Point compare and contrast essay format.
the three body paragraphs can be divided as below:
1. Difference in Character: Hermia’s dad egeus is male in the novel but dean college uses a female character to play egeus. Peter quince in the book is male, but in dean college is female. Why does both character change to female in dean college play?
2. Difference in Comedy: the dog died from accident in the play and its a doll dog. The dog did not die in the book. In dean college’s play, Flute is portrayed as a sissy guy. It does not reflect as the same in shakespeare’s novel as gay and feminity is not common during the old days. It acts as a modern day humor that the audience can relate to in 21 century.
3. Setting is different. Due to lack of crops, the play did not differentiate well between different scenes. Also, a lot of acting is limited due to the stage performance. EG. Puck can fly over and do different gestures as a fairy in the book but in the play he can just run around instead.
