Order Description
Watch/listen to each video, using the examples posted in Canvas:
Gerswhin/Prelude No. 1 for Piano
Still/Suite for Violin & Piano mvt. 3 “Gamin”
Bernstein/Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, arr. for 2 pianos
Identify what is classical (think both of the form/genre and the music itself) and what is jazz in each piece.
Make a judgment as to whether each piece is a successful fusion of both classical and jazz or not. Support your answers.
Finally, make a judgment as to the “jazziest” piece of the three and support your answer.
