Topic: Austerity and the effects on the UK economy

What were the effects of the implementation of austerity measures on the UK’s economy after the 2008 financial crisis? Has the austerity programme been successful in its objectives?
I would like the methodology chapter to be done, however, I believe that within the 6000 words the methodology and findings can be included. My course requires me to do a STATA regression (OLS multiple regression), I have acquired a small amount of the data which I can upload alongside the other information I have. The methodology (regression, interpretation of data, etc.) is what the priority is, but if possible within the word count I would like the results and maybe conclusion to be done also.
Overall the dissertation will be arguing that austerity has meant that the economy is in a worse situation than it would have been without it, also, I will be discussing how there has been historical arguments pointing to the fact that austerity does not work.
The variables I have decided to use are GDP (dependant), unemployment, income inequality, national debt (or deficit) and government cuts; between the time period of 2005 and 2014. This is not set in stone, if you are able to find any variables that aid the argument better, feel free to change the variables.
