Identify a process at a healthcare organization that would be improved by implementing a software system (e.g., clinical outcomes, or improved by a substantial upgrade in technology, perhaps a coding or transcription system). Make a case for the system, first from the health information management (HIM) perspective and second from the information systems (IS) perspective. Prepare and present your case for a system upgrade to the IS staff. Select a system based at a local facility that you know is in place but outdated. Do the research on what should be done to make the system more useful and efficient. Identify issues and address concerns. If possible, present your case to appropriate representatives of the facility. Was the group convinced? What else should be included?
