Read the brief profiles on Cindy Sherman and Lucas Samaras.

Look through the entire packet below. Pick a performance artist that interests you and two photographers (the packet is divided into sections). In your own words explain what you understand performance art to be. Pull 3-4 images of the performance artist’s work (ideally different) off the internet and briefly describe the artist’s performance art to somebody unfamiliar with them. If possible give the date and location of the performance(s).

Choose 2 photographers who have clearly been influenced by performance art. Compile a portfolio of their work. At least 4 samples of each with dates. Describe in detail one of the photographs in your collection. Explain how the photographers you chose are using performance in their photography. What do they accomplish by being performative?
