Genesis System Upgrade project (Airport)
Your manager assigned you to be the project lead for the Genesis System Upgrade Project. Your assignment will be to replace the monitoring system for a major security firm. The planning for this
project must begin on January 23, 2017. Luckily, the previous lead who you are replacing provided you with a preliminary Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Upgrade Document Assignment 1 attached.
Create a new MS Project file (blank file) and name it (HaynesYanta-ASMT1) as the file name. Use the Gantt Chart view and enter the tasks, durations, and dependencies from the basic WBS Assignment
1. For the dates, use the start date of January 23, 2017. Be sure that each task is auto-scheduled and be certain to include the non-workday “Company Picnic” that will occur on Thursday 26 January
2017.
The Project Management Office (PMO) of Alpha Technologies recently provided a memo for employee availability to participate in the Genesis System Upgrade Project. Assigning Resources in MS Project,
follow the steps in the Assignment 2 Instructions Document to add resources to your project. To begin, use Assignment 1 file that you created and choose File – Save As to save a copy of your file
as HaynesYanta-ASMT2.

You have been busy reviewing your project tasks in MS Project and will need to share a project timeline in an upcoming status meeting. You decide to add some milestones and summary tasks before
creating a visual to share with the team. To begin, open the Assignment 2 and choose File – Save As to save a copy of your file as HaynesYanta-ASMT3. Follow the steps in the Assignment 3
Instructions Document.

Your project has been underway for a couple of weeks now. It is time to track the progress of your activities. To begin, open the assignment 3 and choose File – Save As to save a copy of your file
as HaynesYanta-ASMT4. Follow the steps in the Assignment 4 Instructions Document.

Along with tracking the progress of a project, you also want to assign and track costs associated with project resources (people, material, etc.). Open the assignment that you created (HaynesYanta-
ASMT4) and choose File – Save As to save a copy of your file as HaynesYanta-ASMT5. Follow the steps in the Assignment 5 Instructions Document.

Your Final Project Plan consists of writing and software-related exercises related to the Alpha Technologies Genesis System upgrade at a major airport. The guidelines for the assignment are
attached PRM 524 Final Project Plan – Assignment Guidelines. The report is cumulative, meaning that you will use information gathered from each of the previous assignments and discussion questions
to inform your plan.
