Creating an annotated bibliography calls for the application of a variety of intellectual skills: concise exposition, succinct analysis, and informed library research. Write a concise annotation that summarizes the central theme and scope of the book or article. Your annotation should tell us what the main argument or thesis of the work is, what kind of theoretical framework or standpoint the author is writing from, as well as, giving a few sentences which locate this text within the scholarly literature. What kind of approach does it bring? What are the main concepts developed and/or taken up by the author? How does the author make his/her argument? What are the main strengths and/or weakness of the text? Your annotations should be 300-600 words. Book annotations should tend to be much longer than articles.
